![]() Friday, May 02, 2003 Struggling to work out what I need to do to add in a few links and put in my email address. I would also like to add a comment feature in..and get rid of this advert at the top. And I see that Steve is blogging the birth of his new baby. Amazed that he has the time, to be honest. Whose looking after the other kids? posted by Mark | 2.5.03I heard on the radio this morning that Sven-Goran Eriksson, the manager of the England football team earns £70,000 a week. This is for the job of managing what is effectively a part-time team. No wonder he goes to so many football matches (he's at almost every televised match I ever watch). He hasn't got much else to do - except for meeting Premiership Managers. He has had two meetings this week with various managers neither of which have been entirely successful. The FA have organised a friendly match in South Africa on May 22 and Alex Ferguson doesn't want David Beckham to go. Likewise, David Moyes, the Everton manager, apparently want the young boy genius Wayne Rooney to stay at home. I can't say I blame either manager. Friendlies under Eriksson have become a complete waste of time. I'll get back to Sven's salary and the financial travails of the football industry (and subject which I find fascinating) later. posted by Mark | 2.5.03Thursday, May 01, 2003 So, it's the first day of the month and I have decided to see if I can get a blog going. Been looking around for some simple idiot-proof guide to whether I am better off with Moveable Type, Userland or Blogger. Couldn't find anything that said: "Mark, this is what you need to do..." so decided to get going with this. Otherwise I will spend forever, wondering about all the options; using your own domain name, rss feeds (need to learn what they are), trackback (whatever that is) etc etc. Been reading plenty of blogs for a while and kind of fascinated by the proximity to other people who you start to think you "know" although you have no real idea of who they are. And then there are those bloggers I do actually know, and it's fascinating to see how they operate. Maybe blogging is a distraction, a way out of not getting on with whatever "work" you have to do. Blogging doesn't seem like work to me, but for a lot of people, it clearly crosses over. I am not sure what I will be saying, but let's give it a go and see what we can do. posted by Mark | 1.5.03 |
